Aims

To foster and improve the knowlegde of gastroenterology in primary care and to foster the high quality provision of gastrointestinal services in primary care.

To promote and advance medical knowlegde, education and research into the subject of gastroenterology in primary care and to publish the results of such research.

To define the standards for training GP endoscopists and for their accreditation and to recommend standards and criteria for undertaking endoscopy in primary care.

To advise and liaise with the British Society of Gastroenterology and secondary care.
