Graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Crete in 1999. Works as General Practitioner in the rural Practice of Pyrgos in the Health Centre of Harakas, Crete, Greece since 2005. Finalized her PhD study on “Functional gastrointestinal disorders in primary care in Crete”, at the University of Crete in 2008, since then she is scientific collaborator at the Clinic of Social and Family Medicine, University of Crete, Greece.
She is a founding member of the Cretan Practice Based Research Network (2006) and member of the coordinating committee. She has taken part in various research programs of the Clinic of Social and Family Medicine, University of Crete, Greece, including studies on gastroenterology in primary care, translation and validation of research tools and development of practical guidelines for General Practitioners in Greece. Took part in the Mediterranean Island study (MEDIS).
Since 2008 has assisted as peer reviewer many international medical journals namely: BMC series (BMC Family Practice, BMC Health Services Research , BMC Research Notes) , Rural and Remote Health Journal, Yonsei Medical Journal, African Journal of Biotechnology, Saudi Journal of Gastroenterology, and the Greek Journal of Primary Health Care (also member of the editorial team).
Since 2008 is member of the scientific committee of the Greek Association of General Practitioners (ELEGEIA ) (2008-) and has been the secretary of the Union of NHS doctors in the prefecture of Heraklion for 2 years (2009- 2011).
She is a member of the ESPCG steering committee since September 2009.
